At least nine masked suspects ransacked the Macy’s store at Westfield Fashion Square in Sherman Oaks on Thursday.
Officers responded to the mall around 12:40 p.m. to a report regarding a flash mob robbery, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
A preliminary investigation led detectives to discover that at least nine people committed a smash-and-grab at the store before fleeing in two vehicles, police said.
The first vehicle was presumed to be a silver or gold Honda Accord with California license plate number 8HQX809. The second car was described as a black Ford Fusion with California license plate number 8LDZ627, police said.
The suspects were last seen on Woodman Avenue heading toward the 101 Freeway.
It was the latest in a series of such robberies, which promoted officials to create a task force targeting the crimes.
