A reimagined Encino midcentury-modern home owned by long-retired NBA player Kiki VanDeWeghe is up for sale at $4.695 million.
The 5,773-square-foot house with five bedrooms and six bathrooms sits on over a three-quarter-acre corner lot. It’s surrounded by lush landscaping and resort-style amenities, including a gym, oversized saltwater pool and putting green.
A pool house shares the grounds with a vegetable garden, outdoor kitchen and water and fire features.
Records show that VanDeWeghe and his wife, Peggy, an interior designer and structural engineer, bought the property in 2010 for $2.25 million. The couple redesigned the circa 1972 home with entertaining and relaxation in mind.

In the kitchen, top-of-the-line appliances and dual islands finished with solar flare granite countertops and eco-friendly recycled black glass elevate what the listing calls “the ultimate hang-out spot.”
The primary bedroom steps up to a loft sitting area. An oversized walk-in closet and a bathroom with double vanities, a steam shower and a separate tub contribute to the luxurious owners’ retreat, which, like the other bedroom suites, has direct outdoor access.
Fleetwood glass walls, original to the era, provide natural light and stunning views of the mountains and valleys throughout the house. But the rooftop deck offers the best views.

The property was initially listed for $5.195 million in April, dropped to $4.999 million in June and removed from the MLS in August. It reappeared in early September at its current asking price.
During his 13 seasons with the NBA from 1980, the 6-foot 8-inch tall Ernest Maurice “Kiki” VanDeWeghe played for four teams — Denver Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers, New York…
