The worst of the storm is arriving and it’s only forecast to intensify into the weekend.
Caltrans and the CHP have shut down the I-5 at the Tejon Pass, north of Gorman citing “significant snow fall and poor visibility.” That makes the 101 Freeway the only way through the area. The closure happened just before 4 a.m.
They’re also warning about poor driving conditions in the Antelope Valley where snow has already fallen before 2,000 feet.

Let’s take a look at additional warnings in place:
The National Weather Service says this storm is both “cold and dangerous” and will continue into the weekend. By the end of the weekend somewhere between 2 to 5 inches of rain is expected to fall in the region — more in the foothills and mountains.
And then there’s the snow. By Saturday, forecasters say to 6 to 12 inches is possible for 2,500 to 4,000 feet, and 3 to 5 feet above 4,500 feet. Some areas could see as much as 8 feet of snow. And then there’s the extraordinarily rare blizzard warning which comes with possible road closures, whiteout conditions and even an increased threat of avalanches.
Conditions offshore are treacherous, with a special marine warning in place from the coast of San Luis Obispo down to L.A. County where meteorologists say water spots, winds as high as 50 knots…
