The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has confirmed its first measles case in an L.A. County resident in 2025. The person recently traveled through LAX from China.
Where they traveled: The person returned to L.A. County on China Airlines flight CAL8/CI8 on March 5. The public health department will contact passengers who were on the flight.
The person also visited:
- Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX on March 5 between 7 p.m. and 10:40 p.m.
- Cloud 9 Nail Salon in North Hollywood on March 7 between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
- Superior Grocery Store on Valley Boulevard in El Monte on March 10 between 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
What you should do: If you’re worried you may have been exposed, health officials say to check your vaccination status and get it updated if needed. If you do develop signs of measles, which can take up to 21 days after exposure, notify your doctor and stay home. Symptoms can include a high fever, an unexplained rash, runny nose and cough, and red watery eyes.
Other cases: As of March 8, state health officials have identified five measles cases in California. On Feb. 19, an infant with measles traveled through LAX on Korean Air to Orange County.
