A 35-year-old man was shot and killed near the front door of his Wilmington apartment Sunday night, March 10, and police were searching for three suspects in what was believed to be a gang-related attack, authorities said.
The suspects, about 15 to 20 years old, knocked on the door of the man’s home in the 300 block of King Avenue, just south of D Street, about 8:20 p.m. and began fighting with him after he stepped outside, said Officer Charles Miller, a Los Angeles police spokesman.
One suspect pulled out a handgun and fired multiple times at the victim, Miller said.
The suspects fled.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded, but the victim was dead at the scene, Miller said. Whether there were others inside the home when the attack occurred was unclear.
The victim’s identity was withheld by police pending notification of his relatives.
