A landslide destroyed a home and three other residences were damaged in Sherman Oaks early Wednesday, March 13.
Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters responded at 2:51 a.m. to 3741 N. Ventura Canyon Ave. regarding a large tree and wires down in the backyard of a residence and found a large portion of a hillside had slid down toward at least three homes, said LAFD spokesman Nicholas Prange.
Fox 11 reported several residents were evacuated from their hillside homes.
According to reports from the scene, the recent rains have saturated the soil around the homes and could have played a factor in the landslide.
The city’s Department of Building and Safety was on scene accessing the integrity of the structures and hillsides, Prange said.
Inspectors red-tagged the residence that collapsed.
