An investigation is underway after a small private plane crashed in Big Bear on Monday, May 1, killing the plane’s pilot and two passengers, authorities say.
Much is still unknown about the crash, but the Federal Aviation Administration published initial details of an investigation on Tuesday. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
The plane — a single-engine Beechcraft A36 Bonanza — crashed roughly a mile east of the Big Bear Airport around 2 p.m. after taking off from the Corona Airport at around 1:30 p.m., according to public flight data.
The cause of the crash is still unknown, according to the FAA.
The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims of the crash as 60-year-old Temecula man Stormie Seibold, 62-year-old Perris man Jimmy Fitzpatrick and 79-year-old Lake Havasu man Robert Carty. Records show Seibold as the owner of the plane.
