An 11-month old infant was killed and his parents were injured after a vehicle traveled onto a curb and collided into them in the Las Flores neighborhood of South Orange County on Sunday, April 2, authorities said.
Around 4:15 p.m., a man and woman were walking on a sidewalk with their child in a stroller along Antonio Parkway, south of Oaktree, according to the California Highway Patrol. A Hyundai sedan heading north on Antonio veered off the roadway, travelling a few hundred feet along the sidewalk before colliding into the family.
Both the parents, the child and the driver of the sedan were taken to a hospital, where the infant later succumbed to his injuries, the CHP said. Authorities did not immediately identify the infant who died.
The man and woman, residents of Rancho Santa Margarita, near Las Flores, were being treated for serious injuries.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 54-year-old San Clemente man, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. His name was not immediately released.
Anyone with information regarding the crash can contact Officer Kinsey at the CHP Capistrano Area office at 949-670-7030.
