LANCASTER — Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the death of a young child in Lancaster.
Deputies were sent to the 43400 block of 57th Street West about 10:55 p.m. Tuesday regarding a medical rescue call, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
“Upon arrival, deputies discovered a male juvenile with a laceration to the upper torso,” the sheriff’s department said in a statement Wednesday.
“The juvenile was transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased,” the statement continued. “A male adult discovered at the location also suffered a medical emergency. He was transported to a local hospital (in) stable condition. At this time, no arrest has been made.”
Information on the boy’s identity was not immediately available.
Fox11 reported that he was 3 years old.
The child’s mother was being interviewed by investigators, according to Fox11. At least two other children were inside the home at the time and were taken from there by deputies as a precaution, Fox11 reported. The Department of Children and Family Services was notified.
No further details were released by the sheriff’s department.
