A man who appeared to be under the influence of an undisclosed substance was arrested Wednesday evening after trespassing onto a tarmac at the Los Angeles International Airport.
The suspect, described as a ticketed passenger, was followed by airport police officers around 8 p.m. after he exited a security door at the Bradley West Terminals and walked onto the runway. The man reportedly became uncooperative when police approached and attempted to detain him and a “minor use of force occurred”, which resulted in the passenger receiving minor injuries, Los Angeles Police Airport Capt. Karla Rodriguez said.
The passenger was hospitalized for his injuries and will later be booked on suspicion of trespassing onto a secured area of airport property.
The incident had no major impact on airport operations, Rodriguez said.
