In her three years at the USC Norris Cancer Hospital, Joi Torrence-Hill has overseen many advancements and innovations. Under her leadership, the hospital has continued to be ranked among the top cancer centers in the nation and been named a ‘Top Teaching Hospital’ nationally by The Leapfrog Group, recognizing the organization’s quality and patient safety for the third year in a row. The hospital has also expanded access to CAR-T cell therapy, a newer class of treatment for cancer patients; and grown its bone marrow transplant program exponentially.
Torrence-Hill and her team implemented a pathway to safely treat COVID-19-positive patients in a hospital with significantly immune-compromised patients. She also launched a multidisciplinary patient-facing oncology care model pilot that optimizes patient speed to access and journey through cancer services across the hospital and many disciplines. Under her stewardship, the hospital has also experienced exponential growth in ambulatory and infusion volumes.
