YAN KRYMSKY
Design Director
Perkins&Will
Originally from Ukraine, Yan Krymsky, design director of Perkins&Will’s Los Angeles Studio, has lived in Los Angeles since the age of three and has over 20 years of experience designing iconic international projects. He has led the studio through a wide range of project typologies, including multi-family residential, institutional, healthcare, workplace and higher education. His work has received numerous honors and recognitions.
Krymsky’s vital influence has established studio-wide design processes under the idea that architecture has a civic duty to represent the culture and heritage of the people it serves. This ethos is a guiding force of his design philosophy and has led the studio to great success. His work in Destination Crenshaw, a 1.3-mile-long outdoor gallery highlighting the arts and cultural contributions of African-Americans in Los Angeles captures much of the intentionality of his design approach, an approach that captures the spirit and identity of a community.
