Adaeze Cadet’s architectural career breaks barriers and misperceptions about the capability of Black women in architecture. Over the past 18 years she overcame discrimination, successfully performed in multiple leadership positions, and produced exceptional designs praised by experts and continuously adds strength to her design teams and mentees.
As design principal at HOK Los Angeles, Cadet shapes the design culture and framework at the Los Angeles studio. In addition to being a talented designer, she is also a registered architect, which allows her to effortlessly switch between project designer and project architect to provide outstanding service for clients for various large-scale confidential entertainment, commercial and science & technology projects. The HOK Los Angeles studio is comprised of 75% female leadership and Cadet is currently the first female design principal at HOK firmwide, opening the door for future female design leaders.
