Earth Day returns on April 22 and during the global environmental movement people are asked to think about nature and our planet and what they can do to help the world. That could include volunteering to clean up parks or beaches, or just learning more about nature and what you can do to help the planet.
So with Earth Day coming up, here are 10 things you can do in honor of Earth Day.
Akoma Unity Center’s Earth Day Family Fun Celebration
10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, April 19 at 1367 North California St., San Bernardino. akomaunitycenter.org.
The Center’s celebration will include gardening workshops, kite making classes, face painting and earthworm composting.
City of Irvine Earth Day Event
11 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, April 19 at Quail Hill Community Center, 39 Shady Canyon Drive, Irvine. cityofirvine.org.
The celebration will include guided hikes, a composting demo, and demonstrations on solar energy.
City of Upland Earth and Arbor Day Celebration
9 a.m.-noon, April 26 at Greenbelt Park, 1500 W 15th St, Upland. uplandca.gov.
The city’s Earth and Arbor Day celebration will include games, educational booths, paper-shredding and E-waster recycling plus mulch and compost giveaways.
Costa Mesa Earth Day Fair
10 a.m.-2 p.m., April 26 at the City Hall Lawn, 77 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa. oclandfills.com.
Activities for the day include free compost, talks about plant and animal species in the areas, kids games, raffle prices and tree planting.
Earth Day at the Bay
10 a.m.-4 p.m., April 26 at 2301 University Drive, Newport Beach. ocparks.com/events/earth-day-bay-0
The free community event will feature environmentally themed exhibits, arts and crafts, live music throughout the day as well as a scavenger hunt and food trucks.
Earth Day Teen Climate Fest9 a.m.- 5 p.m., April 26-27 at Aquarium of the Pacific, 100 Aquarium Way, Long Beach, aquariumofpacific.org.
