A Westminster High School basketball coach was arrested Friday, March 14, after reportedly having a sexual relationship with an underaged student, police said Monday.
Police arrested James Gaviola, 25, of Anaheim, on four counts alleging sexual contact with a minor, according to the Westminster Police Department.
Officers arrived after the school reported receiving information about an alleged relationship between Gaviola, described as a walk-on coach, and an underage student at the school. Gaviola was a coach for the school’s girls’ basketball team, according to MaxPreps.
Police contacted Gaviola on Friday afternoon and eventually arrested him.
School district officials are cooperating with the investigation, police said. Police are also looking to identify any additional potential victims.
