Police arrested a driver accused of fleeing the scene of a deadly crash in Gardena on Sunday, Feb. 2.
Officers responded about 7:40 a.m. to Van Ness Avenue and 135th Street, where they found a driver unresponsive in a vehicle after a crash, according to Gardena police.
Paramedics pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
When police tried to check the condition of the other driver, they realized she was gone.
Los Angeles police officers found 29-year-old Marian James and arrested her outside her Los Angeles home. She was booked at the Gardena Police Department on suspicion of manslaughter.
Investigators believe the woman was driving southbound on Van Ness and ran a red light and hit the other vehicle, police said.
