1. Santa Margarita 6-1: The Eagles beat Orange Lutheran in their three Trinity League games in the first week of league play. They were No. 5 in the preseason Top 10.
2. Villa Park 6-1: Shortstop Gavin Grahovac, pitcher Brandon Luu and pitcher/first baseman Zach Brown have performed well for the Spartans, who stay at No. 2 in the county rankings.
3. Orange Lutheran 6-4-1: The Lancers were off to a fine start before losing three games to Santa Margarita by a total of six runs including an extra-innings loss. They were No. 3 in the preseason Top 10.
4. JSerra 3-3: The Lions have lost three in a row, including two-game sweep by Mater Dei in Trinity League games.
5. Foothill 5-3: Senior pitcher Andrew Parker has allowed one earned run in 24 innings for the Knights, who were No. 8 in the preseason Top 10.
6. Cypress 6-4: The Centurions went 1-1 in a nonleague series against JSerra and shut out Kennedy 5-0 in their Empire League opener. They stay at No. 6 in the county rankings.
7. Los Alamitos 7-1: Left-handed pitcher Cole Tryba has 38 strikeouts in 23.1 innings for the Griffins, who have defeated La Mirada and Capistrano Valley this season. They were not in the preseason Top 10.
8. Huntington Beach 3-6: The Oilers, who were No. 1 in the preseason Top 10, have struggled a bit, with losses to good teams like Corona, Foothill and Fountain Valley.
