Community meetings bring people together for exchange of ideas and memorable shared experiences. Here’s a sampling of events in the San Fernando Valley area.

 

May 27

 

Canoga Park Memorial Day Parade: An opening ceremony, 10 a.m., with presentations by U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Peter Gravett, retired, who is also the grand marshal for the 32nd parade, and local elected officials (ceremony location at the corner of Remmet Avenue and Sherman Way). City of Burbank’s Memorial Day: The event begins with a concert by the Burbank Community Band, 10:15 a.m., followed by a program that includes the “Ceremony of the Rose,” 11 a.m. Condor Squadron flyover. Memorial Day at Pioneer Cemetery in Sylmar: The San Fernando Valley Historical Society presents an observance with a flag ceremony, participation by the Marine Corps League, San Fernando Valley Detachment #1277, a “rifle” salute, a wreath-laying and the playing of “Taps,” 11 a.m. Bring your own chair.
