UCLA women’s basketball coach Cori Close said 6-foot-7 center Lauren Betts is still day-to-day during a Zoom call with reporters on Wednesday afternoon.
“I’m not playing a media-holding-back thing,” Close said. “It is day-to-day. I really don’t know the answer to that in terms of a timetable, but she is day-to-day.”
Betts, a sophomore transfer from Stanford, has missed the last four games due to an undisclosed medical reason, including UCLA’s loss to Stanford on Sunday. She was averaging 15.4 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per game.
Senior Angela Dugalić and sophomore Lina Sontag will also miss the Bruins’ two upcoming home games against Arizona on Feb. 9 and Arizona State on Feb. 11. Dugalić will compete for the Serbian national team and Sontag will be with the German senior national team at the FIBA 2024 Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament this weekend in Belém, Brazil.
