Residents of nine Studio City homes and at least three Tarzana homes were evacuated due to debris flows from the powerful rain storm that is gripping Southern California.
Firefighters were called at 9:08 p.m. Sunday to Lockridge Road, west of Fryman Road and bordering Fryman Canyon Park, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Nicholas Prange.
Firefighters assisted 16 residents — including their pets — with evacuations from all nine homes on Lockridge Road, Prange said. Some were precautionary, “in case further soil instability causes another flow nearby,” Prange said.
LAFD heavy equipment was on the scene to help deal with soil and debris, he said. Department of Building and Safety had inspectors at the scene, and the LADWP and Southern California Gas Company were checking for impacts to utilities.
No injuries were reported, Prange said.
At 12:12 a.m. Monday, firefighters responded to three homes impacted by debris flow on the 18000 block of Boris Drive in Tarzana, he said. It is near the El Caballero Country Club.
Only one home had people inside at the time, and firefighters helped the two people evacuate, Prange said.
