BOSTON — Lakers stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis won’t be available for Thursday’s marquee matchup against the Boston Celtics, the team announced five hours before tipoff after both entered the day listed as questionable.
James is being listed as out because left ankle peroneal tendinopathy while Davis will miss the matchup because of bilateral Achilles tendinopathy and left hip spasms.
Thursday will be the first time the Lakers, who entered Thursday 24-25, will be without James and Davis in the same game.
Davis told reporters Thursday morning that he was feeling “a little better” after missing Tuesday’s 138-122 loss to the Atlanta Hawks because of the hip.
It’ll be just the fourth game he’s missed this season.
James played 37 and 36 minutes in back-to-back losses to the Houston Rockets on Monday and Hawks.
He’s been on the injury report with the ankle injury for a significant portion of the past seven weeks, last missing a game because of the injury on Jan. 23 in the team’s 127-116 loss to the Clippers. Thursday will be the sixth game he’s missed.
