CANOGA PARK — A man was killed early Wednesday morning when the car he was driving crashed in Canoga Park, possibly during a street race with another motorist, who fled and was being sought, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 1:15 a.m. at Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Vanowen Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The injured man, in his 20s, was trapped in the wreckage and died at the scene, according to the LAPD and the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. Information on his identity was not immediately available.
Witnesses told police that a Toyota Camry and a dark-colored Mercedes could have been street racing when the Mercedes collided with the Toyota, which crashed into a power pole. No further description was available of the Mercedes, which kept going.
