There’s a slice of pie heaven coming to Los Angeles for pizza lovers, with the return of a food festival that’s all about the ubiquitous dish.
The Pizza City Fest will be back at L.A. Live April 27-28 with a lineup of local pizzerias selling pies that will vary from New York slices to Detroit-style pizzas, Chicago-style deep dish pie and more.
Some of the participating pizza joints include Long Beach’s Little Coyote, the celebrated Gorilla Pies from Valley Village, downtown Los Angeles star Pizzanista and Brooklyn Ave. Pizza Co. from Boyle Heights.
Besides getting slices from these and more than 40 other spots, pizza lovers can also get an education since there will also be panel discussion on topics like how to make the best pizza at home and the art of pizza dough. Ticket prices and on-sale dates have yet to be announced.
The Pizza City Fest was created last year by James Beard Award-winning food writer and podcaster Steve Dolinsky, who has written two books about pizza and tried around 60 different pizza places before narrowing down the list to the roughly 40 for the inaugural L.A. festival last year.
The festival was first launched in Chicago in 2022 and besides Los Angeles, it will also take place in Nashville in October. L.A. Live is located at 800 W. Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles, across from Crypto.com Arena.
