All are invited to celebrate LGBTQ+ pride, diversity, and inclusion at the second annual Pride Night at the Los Angeles Zoo.
The Thursday, Jan. 4 family event will include over 30 life-size animal lantern displays, Pride-themed cocktails, a dance party and more.
This year’s “L.A. Zoo Lights: Pride Night” will feature an all-ages dance party at Treetops Terrace with DJ Brynn Taylor, a full bar with two signature cocktails, photo opportunities, a festival of lights with interactive displays, live entertainment and more.
The 133-acre zoo and botanical garden is “committed to being a safe and welcoming place for all of our communities, including those who visit and work at the zoo,” said Jess Kohring, the L.A. Zoo’s curator of community inclusion, in a news release.
“Pride Night is put together as an opportunity for LGBTQIA+ staff, community members, friends, families, and allies to come together in a supportive environment to experience L.A. Zoo Lights: Animals Aglow.”
The Pride-themed event is held on one of the last days of the zoo’s annual “Animals Aglow” holiday lights special, where visitors can see lifelike animal and nature lantern sculptures, organizers said. “Animals Aglow” opened at the zoo last November, and ends on Jan. 7.
While LGBTQ+ Pride Month is formally celebrated in June, with events held throughout the summer, Pride Night organizers said they want to “curate experiences throughout the year where all Angelenos can belong.”
Thursday’s event is from 6 to 10 p.m., in collaboration with L.A. Pride., a nonprofit that has hosted LGBTQ+ Pride parades and festivals in the area for 50 years.
All guests will be able to use the restroom they choose, L.A. Pride organizers said.
Admission to “L.A. Zoo Lights: Pride Night” is $29 for ages 13 and up; $18 for children ages 2-12. Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association members can enjoy up to a 27% discount on tickets.
The L.A. Zoo is located at 5333 Zoo Dr. in Los…
