A house fire in an unincorporated county area near Arcadia that left three people dead and two others injured was caused by an electrical accident, authorities said on Wednesday, Jan 3.
Around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, the two-story home in the 5300 block of Tyler Avenue had caught fire, spreading to the garage and destroying three vehicles, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Deputy Michelle Sanchez.
The cause of the blaze was determined to have been an electrical accident, Sanchez said. Information on where in the house the fire originated or what caused the electrical spark was not immediately available.
Three people were on the first floor of the home when the fire first began, Los Angeles County Fire Battalion Chief Frank Garrido told ABC News. Two of them were able to escape while the third person went to the second upstairs to alert two other people.
The three victims were found dead at the bottom of the stairwell, Garrido said.
The victims, two men and a woman, had not been identified on Wednesday. The two victims that were injured were taken to a hospital, though an update on their condition was not available.
