Grammy nominated, multi-platinum singer-songwriter Jordin Sparks will close out the show at the 135th Rose Parade as the grand finale performer.
Sparks, winner of American Idol season 6, will take the stage as the final float makes its way down Colorado Boulevard on New Year’s Day, about two hours into the parade, the Tournament of Roses announced Tuesday, Dec. 19.
Following her American Idol win in 2007, making her the youngest winner ever at just 17 years old, Sparks released her self-titled debut album, which was certified platinum. She followed up with four more albums, “Battlefield” in 2009, “Right Here Right Now” in 2015, “Sounds Like Me,” in 2020 and her first-ever Christmas album, “Cider & Hennessy,” the same year.
She earned a Dove, Billboard and Grammy nomination this year for her single with Australian pop duo For King & Country, “Love Me Like I Am.” Sparks has also received two B.E.T. Awards, an American Music Award, and a People’s Choice Award.
In addition to her music career, Sparks has made a name for herself on the stage, and TV and film screen. In 2010, she made her Broadway debut as Nina Rosario in the Lin-Manuel Miranda musical “In The Heights.” She followed that up in her feature film debut in 2012 as the titular character and lead in “Sparkle.”
The float on which Sparks will ride will feature the Mansion Theatre for the Performing Arts in Branson, Mo., reflecting the home state of Mansion Entertainment Group, the presenting sponsor of the parade’s grand finale.
Tournament of Roses officials announced last week that Destiny’s Child icon Michelle Williams and “The Voice” champion Cassadee Pope will be among the musical acts performing in the 2024 Rose Parade Opening Spectacular to begin the floral procession.
