A home invasion suspect attempting to break into a Granada Hills home on Saturday, Dec. 2, was shot and killed by the homeowner, authorities said.
Around 5 a.m., two people were trying to break into a residence in the 11400 block of Swinton Avenue while the homeowner was present, also known as a “hot prowl,” according to Los Angeles Police Officer Angie Moran. The homeowner shot one person during the home invasion.
The suspect, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene, Moran said.
Information on the second person, who fled, was not immediately available.
The homeowner’s family, including children, were home at the time but no other injuries were reported, according to police.
Authorities detained one person during their investigation, though no further information was immediately available.
