Beckman’s boys volleyball team has asserted itself as the No. 1 team in Orange County this season.
The Patriots did so by winning the championship of the elite division in the Tesoro Varsity Championships on Monday.
Beckman beat two of Orange County’s top teams in the tournament’s Gold Division semifinals and finals. The Patriots beat Mater Dei 25-22 and 25-22 in the semifinals and beat Newport Harbor 17-25, 25-22, 15-10 in the championship match.

Beckman senior setter Ryan Graves was named tournament MVP. He and his twin brother Jack Graves, a senior outside hitter, have signed with Pepperdine.
Other all-tournament selections were Edison’s Emerson Evans; Mater Dei’s Matthew Thornton; Beckman’s Luke Morrison; Newport Harbor’s Luca Curci; and Newport Harbor’s Jake Read.
Mater Dei defeated Edison 25-18, 25-21 in the third-place match.
Mission Viejo won the tournament’s Silver Division championship by defeating Trabuco Hills in the final 25-18, 25-23.
Marina won the Silver Division third-place match over Capistrano Valley 25-15, 25-18.
In the Silver Division semifinals Mission Viejo beat Marina 25-15, 25-19, and Trabuco Hills beat Capistrano Valley 22-25, 25-23, 15-11.
