Max Verstappen came back from a 5-second time penalty to win his 18th Formula One race of the season late Saturday night to win the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix over pole sitter Charles Leclerc. Verstappen’s Red Bull Racing teammate Sergio Perez finished third.
The race was run on a nearly 4-mile street circuit that included a portion of The Las Vegas Strip. Race organizers have a 10-year contract with the city for the event, which was attended by more than 300,000 race fans over its three-night run.
