LOS ANGELES — A motorcycle rider was killed Sunday when he was struck by a dark-colored sedan in a Mission Hills intersection.
The crash occurred around 12:45 a.m. Sunday on Chatsworth Street at Chatsworth Drive, near the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The sedan was southwest on Chatsworth Drive when it ran a red light while turning east onto Chatsworth Street and collided with a westbound motorcycle, police said. The driver left the scene instead of pulling over, reporting the crash and remaining at the scene as required by law.
Paramedics took a 40- to 45-year-old man to a hospital, where he died, police said. His name was withheld pending notification of relatives.
The LAPD asked anyone who was in the area of Chatsworth Drive and Chatsworth Street around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, or has additional information about this incident, to call Valley Traffic Division Detective Ortega at 818- 644- 8035 or Officer Freeman at 818-644-8115.
A reward of up to $50,000 is available to people who provide information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of a hit-and- run driver.
