LOS ANGELES — A 37-year-old man who apparently lost consciousness on a downtown street was fatally struck early Friday morning, and the driver who ran over him fled the scene, police said.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the man may have been in medical distress and fell unconscious on the westbound side of Temple Street just west of Fremont Street shortly before 3 a.m. The unidentified man was subsequently struck by a westbound 2007 or 2011 sky-blue metallic Toyota Camry, police said.
The driver who struck the man fled the scene.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics were dispatched to the location, where they pronounced the man dead at the scene, police said. Police said the man was about 50 years old.

The city of Los Angeles has a standing $50,000 reward offer for anyone who provides information leading to a conviction in a fatal hit-and-run.
