Galpin Motors hosted its 9th annual car show on Sunday, Oct. 15 in North Hills. The event was free to attend.
The “nine car shows in one” at Galpin’s multiple showrooms on Roscoe Boulevard included muscle cars, classics, Euros, exotics, JDM — also known as Japanese Domestic Market cars — Kustoms, lowriders, hot rods and off-road vehicles.
Sunday’s event was the first show since 2019, before the COVID pandemic hit. The show included an estimated 1,000 cars.
The public also had an opportunity to see Metallica lead vocalist James Hetfield’s car collection normally housed at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles (tinyurl.com/3k3wnjn9).
Children were entertained, too, with their own “zone” and carnival games.
It was also the first car show since legendary Galpin Ford/Motors owner Bert Boeckmann died, on April 28, 2023, at the age of 92. The car dealership, originally established in 1946 by Frank Galpin and based in San Fernando, has been a family-owned and operated business ever since. Bert Boeckmann became the general manager in 1957. Today, Beau Boeckmann is the president and COO for Galpin Motors.
