For the next 30 days, all donations made to the Association of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs C.A.R.E.S. Foundation will be going to the family of Ryan Clinkunbroomer, the L.A. County deputy killed outside the Palmdale station over the weekend, officials announced.
At a Monday morning press conference, law enforcement authorities said they’ve arrested the man they believe to be responsible for the shooting following a hours-long standoff outside his Palmdale residence.
“Everyday I’m proud to be a L.A. County deputy sheriff, I’m especially proud today,” ALADS President Richard Pippin said at the press conference.
“I’m proud of my partners, the men and women of this department, for their professionalism and the skills they’ve shown. What they did here was amazing: to gather this information, identify and locate a suspect this quickly, but perhaps most impressively, to take him into custody without any further harm to anyone, without any further loss of life, it speaks volumes to the kind of people we have here protecting our community.”
C.A.R.E.S. Foundation officials said all funds would be forwarded to the Clinkunbroomer family for whatever they see fit until about Oct. 17. As of Monday afternoon, there was no estimate available for how much money has been raised so far.
ALADS is the L.A. County Sheriff’s and District Attorney’s union. The C.A.R.E.S. Foundation — Cops and Relatives Emergency Support – is their nonprofit organization, aiding union members and their families in times of crisis.
