A decade ago, Los Angeles rocker Maynard James Keenan, known as the vocalist of Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer, threw himself a big ‘ol 50th birthday bash dubbed Cinquanta at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
For his 60th, Keenan is resurrecting the multifaceted evening of music with the Sessanta mini tour in April 2024 with his bands Puscifer and A Perfect Circle, along with Primus. This occasion will also mark A Perfect Circle’s first live performances since 2018.
His birthday falls on the tour kick-off date on April 17 as the show lands in Phoenix, Arizona. The show will then hit the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park in San Diego on April 18 and the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on April 20. It also hits the Greek Theatre in Berkeley on April 21; Maverick Center in West Valley City, Utah, on April 23; and wraps up with two nights at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado/ on April 25-26.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15 at tour.puscifer.com.
For the show, the bands will share members as they play in and out of each other’s bands throughout the evening, but each act will have its own distinctive set.
“It took some massaging, and some long days in rehearsal, but we managed to seamlessly pull off this three-song rotation at Cinquanta, my 50th birthday shows, at The Greek Theatre in 2014,” Keenan said in a press release. “Bands aren’t used to simultaneously sharing the stage with other bands, but if anyone can do it, it’s Primus, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer.”
The Cinquanta show had more of an “evening with” type of feel and featured Los Angeles rock band Failure alongside Puscifer and A Perfect Circle. The sets blended seamlessly as the artists floated in and out of the sets, playing their respective songs while creating a myriad of special collaborative moments.
