It’s not every day your local little leaguers bring home a World Series championship.
And in tiny seaside El Segundo, the whole town has been invited to celebrate on Sunday, Sept. 10 with a parade through downtown — followed by a player recognition ceremony.
The parade, which is free, will begin at noon at Imperial Highway and Main Street, and will travel south to El Segundo Boulevard. The 1:30 p.m. player recognition ceremony at Stevenson Field, but requires a wristband.
A valid 2023 El Segundo Rec ID is required for all wristband purchases, according to El Segundo. With it, you’ll get two free wristbands. Others will cost $5 per, up to a limit of four per person.
There will be a limited supply of wristbands and the Stevenson Field ceremony is expected to sell out. So get downtown early and obtain wristbands at the Checkout Building, Clubhouse or Joslyn Center in Recreation Park at the corner of Pine Avenue and Eucalyptus Drive.
The field will be open from 10 to 11 a.m., with re-entry at 12:30 p.m., following the parade. You may bring low-back chairs and blankets, but no glass containers, no alcohol, no confetti cannons, no tents or canopies, and no dogs except service animals.
To determine if your Rec ID is up-to-date, see esrec.org or call 310-524-2362.
Streets surrounding the parade route on Main Street and Stevenson Field/Recreation Park will be closed during the festivities.
Officials recommend getting downtown early and taking advantage of parking and shuttle services. Chevron and Infineon parking lots will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, with shuttles dropping off about two blocks from the parade route. Enter the Infineon parking lot from El Segundo Boulevard and Illinois Street.
