NORTHRIDGE — A pedestrian who was killed in a hit-and-run in the Northridge area over the weekend was identified Monday by authorities, and police urged anyone with information on the case to contact detectives.

Officers sent to Parthenia Street and Whitaker Avenue — just north of Parthenia Elementary School and just west of the community of North Hills — about 1:30 a.m. Sunday found the man lying on the roadway near a curb, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Brandon Aguilar, 37, of North Hills, died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

“Further investigation revealed that the male pedestrian … was hit by a vehicle, and Valley Traffic Detectives took over the investigation,” an LAPD statement said.

No information was available on a suspect or vehicle, police said.

“Anyone who was driving in the area of Parthenia Street and Whitaker Avenue around 1:30 a.m., on August 27th and/or witnessed a collision or suspicious activity, is urged to contact Valley Traffic Division detectives with any information,” police said.

A standing reward of up to $50,000 has been offered by the Los Angeles for information that helps solve a fatal hit-and-run.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to contact the Valley Traffic Division at 818-644-8114 or 818-644-8024, or the 24-hour police tipline 877-LAPD-247. Tipsters may also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS, or use the website to www.lacrimestoppers.org.
