In this area, September is Service Club Month in recognition of the countless volunteer hours and money raised by various nonprofit organizations benefiting numerous community service projects each year.
Through the efforts of Rotary District Governor Roy Jefferson to establish September as a time to honor of all the wonderful things that members of these organizations do within their communities, the Orange County Board of Supervisors and the Anaheim City Council will sign resolutions affirming Service Club Month.
Representatives from service organizations are invited to attend the OC Board of Supervisors meeting at 9 a.m. on Sept. 12 at the Board Hearing Room in Santa Ana and the City Council meeting at 5 p.m. Sept. 19 at City Hall to be recognized and receive a signed copy of the resolutions.
Various organizations including the Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, Optimists, Soroptimist, Ebell, Assistance Leagues, Knights of Columbus, VFW and many other nonprofits continuously provide invaluable service to their communities through both monetary and hands-on projects that support and help those in need.
Jefferson, a member of the Anaheim Hills Rotary, was recently elected to serve as Rotary District Governor of District 5320, which encompasses all of Orange County, the Southern most clubs in LA County, including Long Beach, Whittier and a few other cities. For additional information, or service clubs interested in attending either or both of these meetings, can email him at [email protected].
