It’s going to be a wild night for beer lovers who will be able to enjoy samples of frosty brews and ciders while roaming around and checking out some of the exotic residents at the L.A. Zoo.
The long-running Brew at the L.A. Zoo returns to the animal park on Friday, Aug. 25 with a lineup of nearly 50 participating breweries, as well as food trucks, live music and a few animal lessons, too.
“It’s a totally unique beer tasting event,” said Sara Rodriguez, vice president of events and operation for the zoo. “What makes this probably the most unique tasting event in Los Angeles is that we’re able to allow our guests to experience the zoo after hours, during the twilight time of day.”
The majority of the 113-acre-venue will be open to the public from 6-11 p.m. Breweries and cideries will set up booths along seven main hub areas located on some of the pathways of the zoo. Patrons will be able to walk around with a five ounce tasting glass and sip on pilsners, porters, stouts and various other styles of beers and ciders.
Local breweries taking part in the event include Beachwood Brewing, Three Weavers, Norwalk Brewhouse, San Fernando Valley Brew Co., Eagle Rock Brewing, Malibu Brewing Company and Golden Road Brewing.
“It’s just going to be a great selection of breweries,” Rodriguez said.
As people down a few, they’ll also be able check out some of the wild animals, which in some cases are even more active at night. However, since many of the animals go to bed early, not all will be visible during the event.
But animals like koala bears, reptiles, kangaroos, flamingos, jaguars, otters, orangutans, elephants and gorillas will be ready to hang out with guests.
And be ready to learn about them, too, because there will be animal keepers outside of some of the habitats sharing information and fun facts about several of the zoo residents.
