The Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood is celebrating its 50th anniversary this fall and promoters have announced several special shows.
Last month, it was revealed that Neil Young with Crazy Horse will return to the stage for an intimate performance on Sept. 20 — 50 years to the day that he headlined the opening night at the iconic concert venue in 1973.The concert will benefit The Painted Turtle and Bridge School. Now, a second show with Young has been added on Sept. 21.
The venue, which has always hosted big-name talent alongside up-and-coming artists, announced a series of shows including rising Los Angeles indie-rock band Wallows on Sept. 23. Fans can register now through 10 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16 at AXS.com to be randomly selected to purchase tickets beginning at 10 a.m. Aug. 22. Stephen Marley will be performing his father Bob Marley’s legendary album “Live at Roxy,” which was recorded at the club in 1976, on Sept. 24. Tickets for that show will be available starting at 10 a.m. Aug. 18 at AXS.com.
Additional fall performances include: d4vd on Sept. 6; It’s Murph on Sept. 8; Keke Palmer on Sept. 11; Paris Texas on Oct. 1; Better Lovers on Oct. 15; Tigers Jaw on Oct. 16; Underscores on Oct. 25; STRFKR on Oct. 27; Nation of League on Oct. 28; Unknown Mortal Orchestra on Nov. 6; Saint Levant on Nov. 10; and Dillon Francis on Nov. 20. The Roxy on Sunset Boulevard was launched by co-founders Lou Adler and Elmer Valentine in 1973. Artists like Bruce Springsteen, Bob Marley, The Ramones, Chuck Berry, Frank Zappa, Richard Pryor, Guns ‘N Roses and many, many more played the venue in the early stages of their careers. It’s also the spot where Adler launched “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” in the U.S. and where comedy duo Cheech & Chong performed.
