The inaugural Left Coast Luau is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Sept. 9 at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado and its promoters, Orange County-based Brew Ha Ha Productions, announced on Friday, Aug. 11 that all of the profits from the event will be donated to Maui relief.
A wildfire has devastated the island, claiming the lives of at least 55 people and wiping out an entire historic town as of Thursday, Aug. 10.
“I would like to start by saying that our hearts and prayers are with the people of Maui,” a statement posted to the festival social media pages by Brea Ha Ha Productions president Cameron Collins read.
“The horrific devastation caused by the Maui fires has left the island and its community in dire need of our help and support. At least 1,000 are still missing and at the time of writing this statement, as many as 55 lives have been lost. The damage to the community is unimaginable and we feel compelled to shift our focus of this event to a fundraiser. We have decided to commit 100 percent of profits from the Left Coast Luau to Maui Strong Fund/Hawai’i Community Foundation.”
The single-day event will feature performances by The Reverend Horton Heat, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Ozomatli, Jonny Two Bags, Teenage Goo Goo Muck and more.
The end-of-summer, luau-themed party will also include a selection of specialty curated regional craft beer, seltzer, cider and mead with samples for tasting from 2-5 p.m. for those 21-and-older, artisanal vendors, Polynesian-inspired dishes and drinks for purchase. Participating breweries include Stereo Brewing, Artifex, Belching Beaver, Modern Times, Ashland, Rad Beer Company, Ten Mile Brewing Company, Wild Barrel, Harland, Brewheim and several more.
Tickets are on sale now for $39 for general admission and $99…
