Celebrate Chicano Heritage Month at the Canyon Hills Library by playing Loteria, a popular family game similar to bingo.
Join the fun from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays throughout August.
There is an opportunity to win prizes. There is no registration or cost to attend.
Another special event in celebration of Chicano Heritage Month is the screening of “McFarland, USA,” a movie about the inspirational true story of a Mexican-American cross-country team.
The community is invited to enjoy the movie and popcorn from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 11 at the branch. There is no cost to attend.
The Canyon Hills branch is also offering an opportunity for the community to learn more about the history of Anaheim Hills and its close ties with Chicano heritage during a presentation at 5 p.m. on Aug. 17.
Enjoy snacks and refreshments while you learn about the local history of the Hills community.

Keeping older residents active
Senior citizens who like to stay active will find many activities at the East Anaheim Community Center, including pickleball, table tennis, canasta and bridge.
Other offerings include Zumba and needlecraft.
Activities run at various times and days, with some offered at the Community Center and others at the East Anaheim Gymnasium. There is no charge to attend.

Group offers volunteering opportunities
The Lion’s Heart organization, a national nonprofit for students in kindergarten through 12th grade, helps facilitate various local community service opportunities and is a certifying presidential organization.
Teens not only have the chance to earn community service hours, they also develop leadership skills and compassion through helping others, and membership in the Anaheim Hills Chapter is currently available.
