For those who have a passion for solving true crime puzzles like the characters in Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building,” there’s an escape room coming that’s inspired by the popular comedy-drama show.
But don’t take too long to figure out whether you’re going or not, because this real-life mystery adventure is only happening for one weekend.
In conjunction with the Tuesday, Aug. 8 season three premiere of “Only Murders in the Building,” which stars Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez, The Escape Game at the Westfield Century City Mall in Los Angeles will house the pop-up “Only Murders in the Building” escape room on Friday, Aug. 11-Sunday, Aug. 13.
The escape room experience is free, but reservations are required.
The series follows three strangers who are obsessed with true crime. They suddenly find themselves immersed in a mystery when a death occurs in their luxury Upper West Side apartment building, the Arconia. The trio then decide to investigate the death themselves.
In the escape room game, people will find themselves on the 10th floor of the Arconia, just outside the apartment of Broadway director Oliver Putnam (Short). They’ll be tasked with finding a key prop that has suddenly gone missing from Oliver’s new show.
Fans will try to figure out who stole the prop while being taken through Oliver’s apartment and secret passageways within the walls of the Arconia.
For those who can’t make it to the escape room, there will be an online version of the game available from Aug. 14-18.
The Westfield Century Mall is at 10250 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles. The escape room is open from 8 a.m.-midnight. To reserve tickets and to register to play online, go to onlymurdersescapegame.com.
