EVENTS
Ventura County Fair: The 148th fair, “A Country Fair with Ocean Air,” opened on Aug. 2 and runs through Aug. 13. The venerable fair includes the traditional fair fare of art, home and livestock exhibits, midway carnival and games, entertainments and savory and sweet food specialties. Exhibit departments include agriculture, amateur and professional art, floriculture, gems and minerals, hobbies and collections, home arts, horse shows, large and small livestock, photography and a youth expo.

Also, the PRCA Rodeo, 7 p.m. Aug. 11; 2 and 7 p.m. Aug. 12-13. Tickets for the rodeo $5 (additional purchase and are good only for specific date).
Hours: noon-11 p.m. Aug. 5-6; 1-11 p.m. Aug. 7; 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Aug. 8; 1-11 p.m. Aug. 9-11; noon-11 p.m. Aug. 12-13. The exhibit buildings close at 10 p.m. (11 p.m. Friday-Saturday). The main midway closes between 11 p.m. and midnight.
Admission $15 ages 13-64; $10 ages 65-99 and ages 6-12; free for ages 100 and up (with proper ID) and for ages 5 and younger. Season pass $48. Carnival wristbands are an extra fee.
