For music enthusiasts or people looking to enjoy a weekend of soulful jams, the 34th annual jazz festival is returning to Downtown Long Beach.
Long Beach Jazz Festival begins on Friday, Aug. 11, from 6-10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 12-13, from 1-10 p.m. at Rainbow Lagoon Park, 400 E. Shoreline Drive.
Presented by Rainbow Promotions, the festival’s line-up of musicians range from classic R&B to hot summer night jazz. Bringing together award-winning artists of Jazz, Latin and R&B, according to the festival’s website. This year artists will perform on two separate stages as well.
On Friday, the event kicks off with performances by artists such as Maxi Priest, international reggae vocalist, and Erin Stevenson, smooth jazz vocalist. As well as the Soul of Jazz group, featuring Brain Simpson, Phil Perry, Jessy J, Marion Meadows and Jackiem Joyner.
The list of performers doubles for the weekend. Saturday’s line-up includes artists including world renowned saxophonist Mike Phillips and “The Prince of Sophisticated Soul,” Will Downing. Sunday attendees can enjoy a performance by jazz bassist Marcus Miller, and many more artists.
The three-day event will also feature a health and wellness pavilion. This year’s theme, “A Healthy Taste of Jazz,” will bring Jazz together with health and wellness to help nourish visitors’ mind, body and soul, officials say. Attendees will be able to visit treatment centers, healthy food sampling stations, and be informed of healthcare and healthy living opportunities available in the local community.
Vendors from all over the region will be selling food, drinks, vibrant and original apparel, custom jewelry and versatile accessories.
Tickets for the festival are available at bit.ly/LBJF2023. Single-day general admission is $85.75, a weekend pass for Saturday and Sunday is $182.06, and VIP sections range in price.
