The Canyon Hills and East Anaheim library branches have recently extended their weekend hours.
Canyon Hills is currently open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and East Anaheim has added Sunday hours from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Help arm military kids with school supplies
Patriots 4 Pendleton, the committee for the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, has initiated a school supplies drive benefitting the children of military members from several units at Camp Pendleton.
All donated items are appreciated.
The nonprofit is hoping for another successful drive this year to help as many military kids as possible. The group mentions that Walmart gift cards are another way to help because it is the closest store to the base. The gift cards will be given to the kids enabling them to purchase needed supplies.

Lunch and learn about health
The next in the city library’s Virtual Lunchtime Wellness Series, “Maximizing Your Immune System,” is scheduled for noon on July 18.
An immune system is a complex network of cells and proteins working together to keep the body protected from such outside risks like bacteria, viruses and toxins in order to prevent infection. This program, offered in collaboration with MemorialCare, features Dr. Leah Pham, who will give a detailed overview of the immune system and important steps that help maximize it.

Students showcase creativity
Join members of the Assistance League of Anaheim at the Chance Theater for Teen Speak Ups.
This special program at 2 p.m. on July 22 will feature original material written by teens enabling them to perform and showcase their creativity. There is also a program on July 27 featuring performers that include students with autism and developmental disabilities.
