Under bright spotlights, breakdancers from the Los Angeles area and beyond gathered on Saturday, July 1 for the Rock City competition to showcase their electrifying skill before a panel of judges.

After displays full of headspins and windmills, the judges eventually crowned Encino resident Josiyah Maes as the winner of the event. He will go on to compete in the Freestyle Session World Finals in November, also hosted in L.A.
The L.A. stop of the Snipes Pro Breaking Tour was hosted at Jianghu Bistro in Alhambra and saw competitors of all ages breakdance for judges Ronnie “B-Boy Ronnie” Abaldonado and Jerry “Flo Master” Randolph for a chance to compete at their national championships.
The Pro Breaking Tour is the premier competition series for breaking in the United States and Canada, hosting over 200 prize money competitions across the globe. Their tour draws thousands of registered competitors and looks to highlight the art form with its diverse history and future potential, especially now that it has been added to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
This year, the tour announced their partnership with streetwear and sneaker company Snipes as a sponsor for their competitions. The current tour started on May 28th in Seattle, Washington and will host a total of 12 competitions in cities across the nation ahead of their final championship.
