Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights has revealed the second maze in its 2023 lineup.
The Universal City theme park announced on Thursday, June 15 that it will be dedicating one of its walk-thru haunted attractions to the terrifying action-adventure video game “The Last of Us.”
Scenes from the award-winning game, developed by Naughty Dog and PlayStation, will be brought to life in a new immersive experience that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. It’s a barren civilization where the infected and survivors must coexist. Inside the attraction, guests will walk deeper into the darkness and follow in the footsteps of the game’s heroes, Joel and Ellie, on a brutal journey where they encounter various kinds of infected including runners, stalkers and clickers, as well as the Hunters, a group of hostile humans.
Once they reach their final destination, the scares aren’t over yet, as inside The Hotel Grand a labyrinth of dark tunnels and terror awaits.
“The world inside the game offers a multitude of suspenseful and horrifying opportunities to provide guests with a one-of-a-kind experience that can only be found at Halloween Horror Nights,” John Murdy, Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood creative director and executive producer said in a press release.
The game is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2023 and has become a fan-favorite, even inspiring a popular HBO television drama series of the same title earlier this year.
On Halloween, Oct. 31, 2022, HHN producers gave guests a special treat and revealed its first maze of the 2023 season, announcing that an attraction based on the USA and SyFy series “Chucky” was coming to the annual event.
