Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has tested positive for the coronavirus but is feeling fine and intends to work remotely, her office announced on Thursday, June 8.
Bass, 69, confirmed the news on her Twitter account moments later.
“Last night, I tested positive for COVID-19 following a routine test. I’m feeling fine and will continue to work from home and follow public health guidelines,” Bass tweeted.

The mayor’s office noted that Bass is vaccinated and boosted. Her spokesperson, Zach Seidl, said this is the first time Bass has tested positive for the coronavirus.
Bass had been scheduled to speak at the Lotus Festival in Echo Park, celebrating the Asian American and Pacific Islander community, on Thursday morning. She also had plans to attend a dinner for scholarship recipients in Pico Union in the evening.
