California First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom visited Los Angeles on Friday, May 26, to promote Gov. Gavin Newsom’s proposed $78.1 million in ongoing funding in the 2023-24 state budget for California’s Youth Jobs Corps program.
The program is a partnership between the state and local governments to support underserved youth and young adults, ages 16 to 30, in finding employment. Participants receive job coaching and training while earning wages.
On Friday, Seibel Newsom joined Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and other state representatives and local officials at Lewis MacAdams Riverfront Park in Northeast L.A. to showcase the Los Angeles River Rangers program, which previously received $5 million through the Youth Jobs Corps initiative.

The Youth Jobs Corps program aims to help young people who are unemployed, out of school, from low-income families, have a criminal history or are transitioning out of foster care.
