A ribbon cutting opened a refurbished children’s playground on Monday, May 22, at Taxco Trails Park in West Hills.
Parents and children, representatives from the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks and Los Angeles City Councilmember John Lee (CD-12) admired the new equipment, some with shady canopies, at the neighborhood pocket park.
Two toddlers stole the show when they found some tiny stools and a tiny table, and got into some serious play time. The small park also has picnic tables.
The name Taxco in the park’s name derives from the 1963-established People-to-People Sister City program between Canoga Park, California, and Taxco, Mexico. This section of the West San Fernando Valley was once Canoga Park before it split in 1987 to become West Hills.
